Five Mile Press Entry

I’ve been working on a submission for the Five Mile Press Illustrator Prize and sent it off on Friday. It was great fun and I have my first digitally coloured portfolio piece. Being a web/graphic designer by day, I use Photoshop and Illustrator day in day out to create vector artwork, logos and designs etc, but I have never really given scanning in my pencil artwork in and colouring a good go, (with kids running around and train travelling, it’s much easier to just have an A5 sketch book and pencils to hand).

So here it is! Uncoloured and coloured. The competition guidelines were to submit character roughs in different poses and a finished scene of your character. I’ll upload some of the roughs in my sketch book.

It’s great to get some work seen by publishers, fingers crossed I make the shortlist which is announced 1st October.
